๐Ÿท๏ธ Promotions โ€” Reference Guide

MultiRoute supports 6 types of promotions. Each one can be auto-applied or manually selected by the rep, and can target specific products, brands, or categories. This guide explains how each type works and when it applies.

Promotion types (tap to expand)
๐Ÿ’ต
Cents Off
CENTOFF
Subtracts a fixed dollar/cent amount from the item price.

A set dollar value is deducted from the unit price of each eligible item. The rep sees the reduced price on the order line.

The discount amount is defined per unit โ€” so the more units ordered, the greater the total saving.

๐Ÿ’ก Example: Product normally $10.00. Cents Off = $1.50 โ†’ Rep pays $8.50 per unit.
๐ŸŽ
Free Goods
FREE_PRODUCT
A product is given free of charge when conditions are met.

When the promotion conditions are met, a new order line is added for the free product with a price of $0.00. The free item is fully tracked in the transaction record.

Typically triggered by purchasing a minimum quantity of a qualifying product (buy X, get Y free).

๐Ÿ’ก Example: Buy 10 cases of Product A โ†’ 1 case of Product B added at $0.00.
๐Ÿ“‰
Discount
DISCOUNT
A percentage applied to a product or to the entire order total.

A percentage discount can target a specific product or group of products โ€” or it can apply to the entire order total. When set to order-level, the discount is calculated against the grand total rather than individual lines.

This is the most common promotion type โ€” used for standard trade deals, seasonal discounts, and volume incentives.

๐Ÿ’ก Product-level: 15% off all beverages.
Order-level: 5% off the entire order when total exceeds $300.
๐Ÿ”’
Fix Price
FIXPRICE
A set price is applied to a product or group of products.

The product's normal selling price is completely replaced by the promotional price defined in the promo record. The rep cannot change the price as long as the promotion is active.

Can be applied to a single product or an entire product group. Useful for contract pricing or limited-time featured item deals.

๐Ÿ’ก Example: Product regularly $8.99. Fix Price promo = $6.49 for the month of August.
How a promotion is triggered
Auto-Apply
Applied automatically
The app checks for eligible auto-apply promotions every time an item is added to the order. When the conditions are met, the discount is applied immediately โ€” the rep does not need to do anything. The promo cannot be unchecked or removed by the rep.
Manual Selection
Rep taps Apply
The promotion appears in the PROMOTIONS tab on the Review screen. The rep sees the available promos for this customer and taps Apply to activate one. If the conditions are no longer met, the promo is removed. Used when the rep needs to confirm the deal before it takes effect.
Pre-Selected Manual
Checked by default, rep can uncheck
Like Manual Selection, but the promotion is already checked when the PROMOTIONS tab is opened. The rep can deselect it if the deal does not apply to this visit. Useful for standard deals that are almost always taken.
What makes a customer eligible for a promotion
๐Ÿ“…
Active date range
Every promotion has a start and end date. The app only shows promotions where today's date falls within the range. Expired or future promos are automatically excluded.
๐Ÿ‘ค
Customer promo group
The customer must belong to the promo group assigned to the promotion (via the customer's Promo ID field). Promotions in the master group "0000" apply to all customers regardless of group.
๐Ÿ›’
Required products in the order
Some promotions require that specific products, brands, or categories already be on the order before the promo becomes available. If the required item is not in the cart, the promotion does not appear.
๐Ÿ”ข
Minimum / maximum quantity
The order may need to contain a minimum (or not exceed a maximum) quantity of a qualifying product before the promotion applies. This drives "buy X" deals.
๐Ÿข
Customer group & rep division
Promotions can be further restricted to specific customer groups or to reps belonging to a particular sales division. A promo may be set up for a specific region or channel only.
Can two promotions apply at the same time?
Additive
Multiple promos stack
All eligible additive promotions are applied together. A customer could receive a percentage discount AND an amount-off deal on the same order simultaneously.
Exclusive
Only one allowed โ€” others are removed
When an exclusive promo is applied, any conflicting promotion is automatically removed. Only one can be active at a time for the affected product or category.
Rep Chooses
Rep selects which exclusive promo to keep
When two exclusive promos conflict, the app presents both options and lets the rep decide which one to apply โ€” instead of auto-removing one.
Unique
Only one instance per order
This promotion can only appear once per order, regardless of how many qualifying lines are present. Prevents the same promo from stacking across multiple matching products.
Group Exclusive
Only one promo per exclusivity group
Multiple promotions belong to the same exclusivity group. Only one from the group can be active โ€” applying any one of them removes the others in the same group.
